2004 Venus Transit Photo Gallery
On June 8, 2004, the planet Venus passed across the disk of the Sun in a rare transit. The last such transit occurred in 1882 so the astronomical community was eager to witness this historic event. The complete details can be found at the NASA Transit of Venus website. The following photographs were taken from Sounion, Greece where the entire transit was visible.
The following QuickTime animations were produced by combining a sequence of still images taken throughout the transit. The individual photos were taken with a Nikon D100 and a Vixen 80mm flourite refractor. Several sizes and resolutions are available:
